The focal-point of the works that constitutes “The Mother Project” are two sources of communication addressed to me. The input is on the one hand, sound recordings of my young sons incomprehensible language, and on the other hand, my mothers frequent and voluptuous email correspondence, which to me, appear to contain camouflaged or deciphered messages. I’ve treated these two language systems as analysable data and utilised methods of interpretation, resulting in a series of visual mappings and registrations. I deliberately experimented with combining self developed and pseudoscientific measuring strategies, with established and well acknowledged systems of understanding. The intention is to employ already existing points of reference, to add authority to phenomenas and circumstances that are complicated to illustrate. This intricate procedure of decoding, thus becomes a process, which in itself may leave traces for yet another set of behavioural patterns, which again may be loaded with meaning

Omdrejningspunktet for værkerne der udgør ‘The Mother Project’, er to kommunikationskilder der er henvendt til mig. Inputtet er på den ene side, lydoptagelser af min unge søns uforståelige sprog og på den anden side, min mors jævnlige og voluminøse mailkorrespondance, der synes at indeholde dechifrerede eller camouflerede budskaber. Jeg har behandlet disse to sproglige systemer som analyserbar data og benyttet mig af tolkningsmetoder, der har resulteret i en serie visuelle registreringer og kortlægninger. Jeg har bevidst eksperimenteret med at kombinere selvudviklede, pseudovidenskabelige opmålingsstrategier, med etablerede og anerkendte forståelsessystemer. Intentionen er at at drage fordel af de eksisterende referencerammer, for at tillægge autoritet til fænomener og forhold der kan være komplekse at anskueliggøre. Denne komplicerede afkodningsprocedure bliver på sin vis til en proces, der i sig selv kan afføde spor til et nyt sæt adfærdsmønstre, der igen kan lades med betydning.
